'30 Days' debuts at #1 at the box office, a dark horse... Will I be the final winner?

The romantic comedy film '30 Days' (directed by Nam Dae-jung) starring actors Kang Ha-neul and Jung So-min debuted at number one at the box office on the first day of its release, beating out prominent competitors.

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated computer network for movie theater admissions on the 4th, '30 Days' ranked first in the overall box office with 171,978 audiences nationwide on the 3rd, the release date. This is the result of beating all the prominent works released during the Chuseok holiday, including ‘Dr.

'30 Days' is a medium-sized movie with a production cost of 6 billion won. The casting was also evaluated by many as lacking weight compared to other films with top star castings. However, it showed its competitiveness as the only comedy film during the Chuseok holiday, targeting audiences in their 20s and 30s, and rose to the top spot on the last day of the holiday.

The criterion for a film's success or failure is breaking even. It raises curiosity as to whether '30 Days' will go from ambush to the final winner. 'Dr. Chun' (1.51 million viewers) attracted the largest number of viewers during the Chuseok holiday, but it needs more strength to reach the break-even point (2.4 million viewers). '1947 Boston' (cumulative audience: 730,000) and 'Cobweb' (cumulative audience: 260,000) also have a long way to go as their break-even points are 4 million and 2 million, respectively.

The break-even point for '30 Days' is in the low 1 million range, so if the initial momentum continues, it is expected to exceed the break-even point in the second week of the Hangeul Day holiday. Despite falling behind its rival, 'Dr. Chun', in terms of the number of screenings (5,237 times for 'Dr. Chun' vs. 3,830 times for '30 Days'), it is overwhelmingly ranked first in terms of daily audience count and reservation rate, so it is expected that there will be screen adjustments.
