Actress Hyeri was seen in tears during the stage greeting for the movie Victory.
At the event held on September 12 at the Megabox Coex in Gangnam, Seoul, Hyeri said, “When I first saw the movie and thought about showing it to the audience,” and then she started to cry. She continued, “It’s a movie I’m very proud of. I hope you understand that sincerity.”
Hyeri expressed her gratitude, saying, “The audience gave so many comments after watching Victory. I received so much support. I wanted to meet more audiences to repay that support, so I visited theaters and promoted the film outside of theaters as well.”
She added, Victory gave me various emotions. Whether joyfully, regretfully, frustratingly, or happily, it’s a movie that made me cry with all these feelings,” showing her deep affection for the film.
Victory is about the story of Pilseon (played by Hyeri) and Mina (played by Park Se-wan), who cheer everyone up and receive encouragement through cheerleading. It is Hyeri’s first lead role in a film.
The movie, which was released on August 14, had been staying out of the top 5 in the box office but reached number 1 in its 5th week, causing a stir. However, it has recently faced controversy online with accusations of 'box office manipulation.
Hyeri has consistently expressed her affection for Victory at official events and on social media. On the day the controversy emerged, she handled the event with a touch of awkwardness but conveyed her sincere feelings about the film and her gratitude to the audience, receiving many applause.
